The tax deadline for personal returns was April 18, 2023. Corporations, Partnerships, and Trusts were due March 15, 2023.
Changes for Individuals – The tax code has reverted back to pre-pandemic rules with a few exceptions. The Child Tax Credit and Dependent Care Credits have moved back to the previous rules. The educator’s deduction has increased to $300 per K-12 teacher and will increase each year for inflation. Residential Clean Energy Credits increased to 30% for 2022 for energy improvements like windows, heat pumps, furnaces, and insulation. Individuals who are 62 through 65 by the end of 2023 will be allowed to make up to $21,240 before losing Social Security benefits. For the year that you start receiving Social Security, you will only be able to make $1,770 per month after you start receiving it. For electric vehicles purchased during 2023 moving forward, the sales limit of 200,000 vehicles has been removed and the $7,500 credit can be redeemed at time of purchase.
