The tax deadline for personal returns is April 15. Corporations, Partnerships, and Trusts are due March 15.
Changes for Individuals –
Oregon will have a kicker this year of 9.863%. With the One Big Beautiful Bill passing in 2025, many changes for individuals are occurring this year. Tips of up to $25,000 are excludable from income. Overtime is excludable from income of up to $12,500. If you have overtime or tips, we will need to have your year-end paystub to obtain these figures. If you are single, make less than $75K and are 65 or older, you will qualify for an extra $6,000 deduction on income to offset taxable SSA per taxpayer. A new Trump Account has been made for children. Anyone born between 2025-2028 will qualify for a $1,000 deposit from the government to a savings account for the child. Any parents of children under age 18 will qualify to contribute to the account up to $5,000 per child per year. Auto loan interest for new vehicles purchased with final assembly in the US between 2025-2028 will be deductible up to $10,000. If you have a child, please plan on filling out a short questionnaire for each child when you come in to drop off your return information. If you had any energy efficient home improvements, please bring in your receipts. If you purchased an electric vehicle before October 2025, please bring in your purchasing documents. 1099’s will be issued to anyone that received more than $20,000 from a third-party service providers like E-bay, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, etc.
For 2026 – Cash donations to charity will be deductible from your tax return of up to $1,000 per taxpayer without itemizing deductions. Mortgage Insurance Premiums will be deductible. The credit for home energy efficient improvements, solar credits, and electric vehicles purchased will no longer be deductible.
